Travelling South East Asia

Sorake Beach, Nias Island, Indonesia / La Plage de Sorake, à L'île de Nias, Indonésie / La Playa de Sorake, en la Isla de Nías, Indonesia.

I would like to explain the main goal of Orquidae, my weblog.

Would you like to visit such an awesome place like the one above? Not many travellers have the oportunity to do it. Did you kno there is a good hotel next to that beach? Normally these are not included in the main guides... not until now!

Thoughout the years, in all my trips around South East Asia, I have met many locals and foreign travellers. I always believed that we all were looking for the same and we all have the same travelling issue: the language. Sharing and receiving the right information before and during the trip is very important and gives us the oportunity to experience the best in our travel experience.

While I was thinking how to solve the lack of understanding between travellers and locals, I realized that both had the same issue. Both parties were looking to share information, but the exchange flow was normally only going in one direction: foreigners asking for advice to locals (we've all used sign language at least once, haven't we?). Except for Large scale businesses, local Hotels, Shops and Restaurants do not have the oportunity to advertise themselves in foreign channels. This makes many people choose organised trips instead of travelling on their own initiative.

In this section, I want to promote local businesses to advertise themselves so that travellers get the information directly from them, even before planning the trip. I strongly believe that it is the best way to visit South East Asia, discovering new places. In Orquidae, we receive the advert directly from them and translate it into English, French and Spanish (more European languages will be available in the future). We provide you with direct information about local tourist initiatives, great local restaurants, interesting shops and people that will receive you with a great smile. Orquidae will introduce you to new places and cultures, and you will be helping them to develop local business oportunities and jobs.

One last advice.. If you travel, for example, deep the jungle to visit the orangutans or have a hard journey travelling from YogYakarta to Bali, make a reservation at a good hotel and experience the Asian Luxury. Travelling around S.E.A. is not only for backpackers! Hotels in S.E.A. are normally not as expensive as in Europe or America, and after a long trip, everyone should take at least one or two days to relax and enjoy the best of South East Asian Luxury Style.

Cheers & Enjoy.
